Project Overview
Client: Big Web Warehouse (BWW)
Location: Peterborough, UK
(multi-warehouse operation)
Sector: Storage, e-fulfilment,
bonded warehousing
As Big Web Warehouse expanded from a single unit into a connected network of six warehouses across Peterborough — totalling over 250,000 sq ft of storage capacity — its infrastructure demands evolved dramatically. The company’s reputation for dependable, personalised fulfilment and bonded warehousing meant each new site had to deliver the same speed, visibility, and reliability as the first.
However, scaling operations across multiple sites introduced complex IT and security challenges. Systems that once ran perfectly in one building now needed to communicate across six — requiring seamless connectivity, unified data management, and resilient communication between teams and systems.
To achieve this, Big Web Warehouse turned to Cyber Ware to design and implement a fully integrated technology ecosystem spanning:
- Wide-area wireless interconnects linking all warehouse sites.
- Enterprise-grade Wi-Fi and structured cabling for local network access.
- Managed firewalls and 5G failover for security and continuity.
- CCTV and ANPR systems for asset protection and site access control.
- Centralised voice and communication services to connect teams across all sites.
This single, unified platform provided the foundation for secure, high-performance operations — connecting people, processes, and data across every warehouse.
The Challange
As Big Web Warehouse’s e-fulfilment operation expanded, the business faced a familiar yet formidable challenge — how to keep control while scaling fast.
What began as a single warehouse with a small team evolved into a multi-site distribution network, each site handling different clients, products, and storage requirements.
The company’s success created new pressures. Warehouse systems had to communicate seamlessly, teams needed instant visibility of stock and orders, and security had to extend beyond a single building. The old approach — independent networks and separate systems — could no longer keep pace.
Connectivity bottlenecks and inconsistent Wi-Fi performance began to impact operations. Staff couldn’t rely on voice or data communications between sites, and management lacked real-time oversight of activity across the expanding estate. Meanwhile, security demands grew more complex — from monitoring vehicle movements and site access to ensuring compliance with data-handling and bonded-warehouse standards.
Big Web Warehouse needed a single, unified technology platform that would:
- Connect every warehouse as if it were one cohesive site.
- Synchronise business systems to ensure up-to-date stock and order visibility.
- Strengthen security, including CCTV, ANPR, and controlled access across all sites.
- Provide reliable Wi-Fi for handheld scanners, IoT devices, and operations teams.
- Deliver resilient communications so staff could collaborate without interruption.
- Scale easily to support future growth, new sites, and seasonal peaks.
The goal was simple — to make every site work together as one business, one network, and one team.
Our Approach
At Cyber Ware, every project begins with understanding — the site, the systems, and the people who rely on them.
Before a single cable was installed, our engineers carried out a comprehensive technical audit across all six Big Web Warehouse sites. Using predictive and on-site wireless surveys, spectrum analysis, and structured cabling assessments, we mapped every operational dependency — from handheld scanners and CCTV cameras to warehouse management systems and voice infrastructure.
This groundwork allowed us to design a solution aligned with both the client’s immediate needs and their long-term growth plan. Our approach combined:
ISO-aligned methodology
Ensuring every aspect of design, delivery, and documentation followed best-practice standards.
A modular, scalable architecture
So new warehouses, technologies, or services could be added without disruption.
Collaboration with the client’s IT
and operations teams
to understand daily workflows and critical pain points.
Focus on resilience and visibility
Ensuring performance could be monitored, managed, and optimised in real time.
By treating connectivity, security, and communication as interdependent elements of one system, Cyber Ware was able to create a unified digital environment — built for reliability, efficiency, and confidence.
The Outcome
The result was a secure, high-availability digital backbone connecting all six Big Web Warehouse sites into one cohesive operation.
By removing frustrating dead zones, eliminating call dropouts, and standardising connectivity across every location, Cyber Ware delivered more than better Wi-Fi — we delivered operational confidence. Staff now connect instantly to the systems they need, wherever they are, without losing time to technical issues.
The consistent and secure network layer means business-critical systems — from warehouse management and inventory platforms to CCTV, ANPR, and voice — perform flawlessly and integrate seamlessly.
With proactive monitoring, managed firewalls, and ongoing operational support, Cyber Ware ensures maximum uptime and minimal disruption, freeing the client’s teams to focus on what matters: running efficient, reliable operations that meet customer expectations every time.
In short, technology stopped being a daily frustration and became the foundation for growth, efficiency, and resilience.
Solution Architecture (at a glance)
Under the hood, the Big Web Warehouse solution combines resilient connectivity, intelligent switching, and secure wireless into one unified network fabric.
Core Network
Dual-rack design using Layer 3 switching and managed firewalls provides redundancy and traffic segmentation across production, management, and guest environments.
Wireless Infrastructure
Enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 6 access points provide seamless coverage across more than 250,000 sq ft — from chilled storage to loading bays — with dynamic channel management and automatic hand-over.
Management & Monitoring
A centralised cloud dashboard offers live visibility of throughput, device status, and security posture, all integrated with Cyber Ware’s UK-based service desk for proactive incident response.
Inter-Site Connectivity
Ofcom-licensed millimetre-wave point-to-point links deliver gigabit-speed connectivity between warehouse sites, ensuring low-latency performance and guaranteed spectrum protection. These licensed links are complemented by fibre backbones and 5 G failover, creating a resilient wide-area mesh that keeps operations online even under pressure.
Edge Devices
IP CCTV, ANPR cameras, handheld scanners, and voice endpoints connect securely through segregated VLANs to maintain performance for business-critical applications.
The result: a fully visible, fault-tolerant, and licensed architecture engineered for uptime, scalability, and long-term serviceability.
