Project Overview
Client: Oatlands Park Hotel
Location: Weybridge, Surrey
Sector: Luxury Hospitality
Set within 10 acres of parkland on the site of Henry VIII’s former royal palace, Oatlands Park Hotel is a four-star country house hotel blending heritage, elegance, and modern comfort. With 157 individually designed rooms, grand event spaces, and a focus on guest experience, the hotel combines the charm of a historic estate with the demands of a busy contemporary hospitality operation.
However, while the property had invested heavily in refurbishment, its legacy Wi-Fi could no longer meet expectations. Guests struggled with slow connections and dead zones, while operational systems — from staff communications to CCTV and point-of-sale — depended on an ageing infrastructure. The hotel needed Wi-Fi that would match its reputation: reliable, intelligent, and effortless.
The Challange
The need for change began with guests — and their growing digital expectations.
Where once a single laptop or smartphone was typical, today’s travellers arrive with multiple devices, streaming entertainment, video-calling family, and attending virtual meetings. The hotel’s legacy system struggled to keep pace with these demands, leading to inconsistent performance and frustration for guests and staff alike.
At the same time, Oatlands Park Hotel’s reputation for hosting high-profile guests, such as the New Zealand All Blacks during the Rugby World Cup, as well as corporate events and conferences, meant that connectivity wasn’t just a convenience — it was essential. Every part of the property, from guest suites to function rooms, had to deliver reliable, secure Wi-Fi capable of supporting business and leisure users simultaneously.
Behind the scenes, operational teams relied on the same network for telephony, CCTV, and back-office systems, making uptime critical to both guest experience and day-to-day efficiency. The challenge was to deliver a modern, resilient Wi-Fi infrastructure that could meet these growing demands while respecting the building’s listed heritage and aesthetic integrity.
Our Approach
Our approach began with understanding the guest and operational needs unique to Oatlands Park Hotel — a heritage venue where elegance and technology must coexist seamlessly. While the initial brief was to address guest connectivity demands, our survey quickly revealed a broader opportunity: to create a unified wireless ecosystem that would enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability.
Using advanced Ekahau-certified tools, Cyber Ware carried out a full site survey and spectrum analysis to map coverage, interference, and signal performance across all 157 rooms, meeting spaces, and public areas. Every detail — from access point placement to cable routing — was planned to maintain both aesthetic integrity and network resilience.
We designed and deployed a solution around our Guest Smart and BYOD Smart platforms, delivering secure, segmented networks for guests, management, and operations. Each network runs through a cloud-managed architecture with proactive monitoring, SLA-backed support, and live visibility dashboards.
To preserve the hotel’s historic character, we fabricated custom mounting brackets for discrete installation while ensuring performance at every node. The system also integrates CCTV and telephony connectivity within the same managed environment, creating one cohesive, transparent digital foundation that the hotel can depend on — whether it’s hosting international guests, high-profile teams such as the New Zealand All Blacks, or large-scale corporate events.
The Outcome
The new Wi-Fi platform at Oatlands Park Hotel has delivered far more than internet access — it has redefined the guest experience. Guests now enjoy seamless, high-speed coverage across every room, meeting space, and public area, eliminating blackspots and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for streaming, conferencing, and entertainment.
The unified network also supports CCTV, IPTV, digital signage, and in-room systems, creating a richer and more connected environment for guests while enabling staff and management to operate with greater efficiency. Behind the scenes, telephony, operations, and back-office systems now run reliably over the same managed infrastructure — improving communication, safety, and control.
Performance and uptime are maintained through continuous monitoring and proactive management, allowing the hotel to deliver a consistently high-quality service without disruption. The result is a property that blends its heritage charm with 21st-century connectivity — secure, scalable, and ready for tomorrow.
